The NC market has a tremendous number of talented individuals dreaming of sharing their talents on the stages of NY City, behind the TV and film cameras of LA or dreaming of becoming the next Celine Dion, or other Clay Aikens. There are few options for the NC artist to gain the experience needed to audition effectively, present themselves on stage or to learn the qualities that inspire audiences to come back for more. Even if the dreams are not of stardom there are not enough artistic venues or outlets in our state. Artists are hungry to perform anywhere any time with a desire to learn, to gain experience, to be inspired by other artists and musicians, to receive feedback and to just do what they love; sing, dance, play their instruments. Whatever their talent they just want to use it to bring fun and inspiration to those who are willing to listen and watch. Our artists are community focused. They hold close to their hearts and souls the desire to change the world.
Interesting Facts about the Triangle Area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill):
- We are the home of some of the nation's top universities including: Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hilland NC-State University.
- According to Richard Florida (Professor Of Regional Economic Development at Carnegie Mellon University), in his book, "The Rise Of the Creative Class: And How It's Transforming Work, Leisure, Community and Everyday Life" the creative class is key to our economic recovery.
- Of the 1.2 Million residents in the Triangle nearly 1/3 of them are members of the creative class, according to Florida.
- Florida rates Raleigh-Durham as Number 2 in the country on his top talent and creativity index. However, we rank # 52 in the country for cultural stimulation, outlets and activities. Which means our talented individuals and groups must leave our state to find venues for their talent and the cultural stimulation to growth and inspiration. The Night Of Dreams Foundation is focused providing new venues for our local artists and creating artistic networks to help grow their talents.
- We are home to the Research Triangle Park the countries top high tech research and development centers.
Yet, according to Florida, we area failing as a region to provide the cultural venues to maintain our young and old brain power alike to remain in and build the Triangle region. Our showcase will be a regionally sponsored and supported show.
Our market is in need of more community support. Providing an outlet for our artists to ban together will be one of the strongest support systems we could build. Future events will also combine art, business and community to support our charities, our children, the schools and neighborhoods. Profits from our event will go to a Night of Dreams selected charity, The Center for Child and Family Health. All sponsor contributions will be go toward the expenses of the evening, with any remaining funds going to the selected charity.
